This course is designed for personnel with little or no experience in the recognition and handling of explosives. The course will cover explosive recognition, transport, and safety, as well as military and civilian explosives that police may encounter in the day to day operations that their units may be encounter as an active participant, or in a support or security role.

Prerequisites:

Restricted to full time local, state, and federal law enforcement officers.

• Safe handling precautions
• Hazards associated with common explosive materials
• Guidelines when approaching or handling explosives
• Minimum safe distances
• Plastics, binary, and foreign explosives
• Firing devices
• Resources available for emergency response
• Transportation and storage requirements
• Basic demolition procedures

• Duty uniform (complete with duty gear)
• Body armor
• Ballistic eye protection
• Ear protecton
