Combat Shotgun
32 training hours (4 days)

This program is designed for either pump or semi-autos and is ideal for personnel who wish to increase their skills and confidence with the shotgun. This course covers the many situational uses that officers may use this duty weapon. Students will learn deployment techniques that are critical when dealing with an active shooter or rapid deployment incident.
Prerequisites:
Restricted to full time local, state, and federal law enforcement officers.

- Close quarter shooting

- Principals of personal defense
- Rapid deployment methodology and concepts

- Fundamentals of shooting the shotgun
- The natural action stance
- Loading/unloading the shotgun
- Review conventional and tactical sling systems
- Threat assessment and area scanning
- Ammunition management and reloading techniques
- Select slug techniques
- Malfunction clearance drills
- Shooting on the move
- Drugged assailant and body armor defeating drills
- Use of the flash sight picture vs. perfect sight alignment
- Front sight proximity shooting
- Rolling thunder team drills
- Man vs. man stress course/combined skills evaluation
Equipment Needed:
- Pump or semi-automatic shotgun with sling
- Ammunition - 500 rounds 00 buck/100 rounds slug
- Shell carrier (belt or weapon mounted)
- Duty pistol with 2 magazines
- Body armor
- Eye/Ear protection
- Notebook & pen
- Weapons maintenance system
