Basic Countersniper Operations & Tactics
40 training hours (5 days)
Cost: $750
This course is the introductory training of the future police or military sniper. The basic techniques and factors that make a sniper successful are covered in extreme detail in a format that is readily understood and physically applied by course attendees. This is a pass or fail course.
Prerequisites:
Restricted to full time local, state, and federal law enforcement officers assigned to a SWAT/SRT team and active duty military personnel.

- Marksmanship principles
- Sniper support equipment
- Data book keeping/Reporting information
- Range cards and documentation
- Camouflage/Concealment
- Shooting positions
- Shooting through a glass medium
- Cold barrel determination
- Stress Shooting
- Ranging targets
- Scouting, stalking and hides
- Supporting tactical team employment
- Range and wind determination
- Weapons system maintenance
- Sniper SOP and selection
- Legal concerns & liability
Equipment Needed:
- Items carried on vest or utility gear
- Scoped rifle and (350 rounds) ammunition
- Service pistol and (50 rounds) ammunition
- Spare pistol magazines
- Hand held radio w/two spare batteries (only if attending as a team)
- Knife (fixed blade)
- Mini binoculars
- Range finder (only if you already have one, if not, don’t buy one)
- Compass
- Whistle
- Mini thermometer
- Ear protection
- Pen light w/red filter
- Ghillie suit/D2 stalker type camouflage system
- Camouflage paste (multiple colors)
- Pencil / Notebook / Sniper data book
- Voice activated tape recorder w/spare batteries, and tape
- Digital camera
- Glass cutter
- Hydration system (CamelBak)
- Alcohol wipes
- Insect repellent
- Beef jerky
